The Austrian Network for Research and Development in Adult Education and Continuing Training is a network of research institutions for promoting research in adult education.
The range of adult and continuing education offers, both those of general and vocational as well as political education, are a significant cornerstone for lifelong learning. A large number of institutions, organisations and individuals do practical work in the field of adult and continuing education and/or make essential contributions in terms of basic research or applied research and development to adult and continuing education and the research and development of it.
Research and development in this sector has to be promoted and increased in order to make the existing knowledge on adult and continuing education useful as an important cornerstone in the realisation of the idea of lifelong education. A coherent strategy is indispensable for making the achievements of adult education research and development useful in the practical implementation and theoretical debate on the national, European and international levels.
The Austrian Network for Research and Development in Adult Education and Continuing Training was launched as a platform in the sense of an open network for new stakeholders in order to establish this coherent strategy, to network the participating stakeholders and to increase research and development of adult and continuing education in Austria.
