Adult Education Quarterly is owned by the American Association of Adult and Continuing Education and is published in November, February, May, and August by Sage Publications. The journal was originally founded in 1929 as The Journal of Adult Education but the name was changed in 1983 to Adult Education Quarterly (AEQ). The journal enjoys the reputation of being the premier North American research journal representing the field of adult education, and is one of only a handful of journals in the world dedicated to research and theory in adult and continuing education.
