The implementation of the Law on Immigration (Zuwanderungsgesetz) is described from the perspective of institutions that up to now have dealt in an important way with German language courses for foreigners. According to the Sprachverband e.V. (German language association) in Mainz there are, at present, some obstacles blocking a reasonable planning of language instruction: Immigrants who already live in the countr y will no more be eligible for courses at reduced prices; courses for women with children cannot be financed any more; the same goes for specific offers for adolescents. The budget limitations for the courses will probably be at the expense of their quality.
